PILLARS of A.C.E.

Carlotta Pope is a life-long learner, educator, agent of change and CEO. Although known for being a warrior within the world of education, as CEO of Melanated Moves her sole purpose is to impact local communities. The Melanated Moves platform allows people of color & allies the opportunity to connect with each other in order to uplift and empower themselves through the three Pillars of A.C.E: Advocacy, Capacity Building, and Exploration! 

As a current scholar, pursing her doctoral in Educational Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, her focus is to develop skills to help her become the ultimate learner, while still finding ways to combat systemic oppression within the education system. As an educator, she strives to empower her students through the practice of Culturally Responsive Pedagogy, utilizing the identities and passions of her students to enhance literacy and life-long skills. 

Born from Trinidadian roots and raised in the electrifying streets of Brooklyn, NY, Carlotta advocates for those who are underrepresented, with her teaching philosophy of  “building a capacity for every scholar to be able to utilize their voice." From notable past interviews with, NYC Department of Education Chancellor Carranza on “the roots of implicit biases” to panel discussions with members of Congress, at the U.S Capitol, about “the impact of teacher diversity”, Carlotta continues to shift the education system both on a local and national level.
